About SimPit

Founded by someone who's flown the real thing

SimPit Technologies was founded in 2010 by Tom Kozak — a former NATO Rapid Reaction Force operator, helicopter pilot, and wingsuit and skydiving instructor — combining more than 25 years of aviation experience with 15 years of simulation development.

Why it's built this way

Simulator visuals should feel like the real environment

In aviation, visual information is read continuously — through alignment, motion, depth, contrast, peripheral cues and spatial reference. That affects orientation, workload and confidence, especially when a pilot isn't consciously analysing the picture. A large image placed around a cockpit doesn't do that. A stable, continuous surface does.

That's why SimPit is built around geometry and optical consistency, not just resolution: a rigid projection surface as the visual core, supported by a structural frame, integrated projector mounts, and calibrated warping and blending — engineered as one system rather than assembled from parts.

Where we build it

New Zealand manufacturing, since 2010

SimPit Technologies started in 2010 in Motueka, New Zealand. Since 2017 we've been based in Leithfield, about 25 minutes from Christchurch International — every screen, frame and surface is designed and manufactured in that workshop, then shipped worldwide.

We specialise in advanced simulation, large cylindrical and curved screens, and the surface technology behind them — built for dedicated enthusiasts and commercial simulator operators alike.
